Rural development

The term rural development refers to programme's of activity that are related to the social, economic and environmental wellbeing of communities living in relatively isolated and sparsely populated areas.

As North Yorkshire is a predominantly rural county the council takes a particular interest in rural development. Due to the broad nature of the subject rural development is handled in a number of different ways by the council.
