Welfare rights
For adults who are assessed as needing support from social care services, welfare benefits information and help with claims is provided by the benefits and assessment team, as part of the financial assessment process following completion of an assessment of your needs.
In the last year, the team has helped people in North Yorkshire to claim over £750,000 to which they were entitled. This has not only increased the income of the individuals themselves but has had a positive impact on the communities in which they live. You can find general advice, information and help on welfare benefits, employment rights, legal issues, pensions and tax using the websites below. Having your needs assessed by social care servicesTo ensure that you receive the right kind of help and support, we need to know what problems you are having. This is done through an assessment of your needs. For more information, see the Needs assessment by social services page. Paying for the social care services you receiveYou will have to pay for some social care services you receive but others may be free or at a reduced cost, depending on your financial circumstances. The amount you pay for these services will be determined through a financial assessment. For more information, see the charges for social care services and financial assessment pages.
