The Gate is a service within the Harrogate district providing a one stop shop for drug treatment services. It is run by the national charity Crime Reduction Initiative (CRI). The Gate provides a range of services including:

  • The drug intervention programme - provides case management services to substance users in the criminal justice system;
  • Harm minimisation - offers needle exchange, assessment, referral to prescribing, vaccinations and testing for blood born viruses, advice on wound care and safer injecting;
  • Structured support and resettlement - provides assessment, care planning and one-to-one and group support to substance users as well as prescribing; and
  • Aftercare - supports people who no longer use illicit substances but want to get back into training, education and employment.
