Libraries - loan renewals

Books are loaned for up to three weeks at a time. They may be renewed up to five times without returning the books to the library, provided they are not required by anyone else. Audio-visual items are loaned for one week at a time. A repeat hire charge is made if a CD, DVD or video is returned late.

Automated renewal services

You can renew books at any time, 24 hours a day, seven days a week by:

Using our online renewals service or by telephoning 0845 034 9583 and following the instructions.

For both of the renewal methods above, you will need to enter your library card number and PIN to proceed. If you don't have a PIN, please call in at any library to collect your PIN. Due to security concerns PINs are not available via phone or e-mail.

After five unseen renewals, books must be brought to the library to be renewed.

Other renewal methods

You may also renew your books by:

Please note that for the renewal of charged items, such as CDs or DVDs, you will have to pay the hire charge again.
