Libraries - reserving books and other itemsBooks, periodicals, audiobooks, CDs, DVDs and language courses can be ordered through our request service.
There are several methods and associated costs for requesting different items, as explained below. Once an item you have requested is available, you will be notified by e-mail, if you have provided us with one or a letter will be sent to your home address informing you that it is available for collection from your local library. There is a small charge for requesting books. Books that are not held in stock in one of our libraries can be requested through the inter-library loans scheme, which carries a further charge. There is no charge for requesting audiobooks, CDs, DVDs and language courses but hire charges will still apply when the item is collected from the library. Unfortunately, we are unable to borrow audio-visual material from other library services. Please note that in order to comply with copyright law, newly released CDs cannot be loaned from libraries until three months after their release date.
