Hospice care is aimed at controlling the symptoms and problems caused by major illness. Hospices offer skilled responses to pain, other symptom control as well as palliative care.
Most hospices also offer some in-patient services to give carers a break but also to bring symptoms under control. Many have teams of nurses who visit people in their own home and work closely with Macmillan nursing services. All of them will offer counselling support for patients, carers and families.
Your family doctor or hospital team will be able to provide more details about local services. You can also find more information from the websites below.
