Transport policy

The Local Transport Plan (LTP) is a set of documents that the Government requires all local transport authorities to produce. The LTP sets out our plans and strategies for maintaining and improving all aspects of the local transport system over a set period of time, usually five years. As well as improvement schemes, we also deliver maintenance schemes through the LTP. These include repair and replacement of the highway footways as well as the improvement and replacement of bridges and structures.

The current Local Transport Plan (LTP2) finishes in March 2011 and as a result, we are now working on developing our third Local Transport Plan (LTP3) to cover the period from April 2011 to 2016. The plan will build on the successes of the previous plans and look to make improvements to the transport system which will really benefit people living and working in North Yorkshire. 

The engagement and consultation phase of the LTP3 production process has now closed. We are currently analysing the responses that we have received and we will be including these where applicable, within the final LTP3 document.

The final plan will have to be approved by the full Council and this is planned for December 2010. The final LTP3 document will be available on this web page in early 2011.
