We have a legal obligation to keep the roads free moving, safe and available to all users and we use parking, waiting and loading restrictions to achieve this. Civil parking enforcementCivil parking enforcement means that the powers to enforce on-street parking, loading and waiting restrictions are transferred from the police to the local highway authority. Civil parking enforcement is operational throughout North Yorkshire. All local authorities within North Yorkshire are working together on this service. There will be no clamping or removal of vehicles by either council. Enforcement of on and off street parking will be carried out on our behalf and on behalf of the respective district council by:
Reporting a parking infringementYou can report a parking infringement on a road or in council-run off-street car parks as follows.
North Yorkshire Police retain sole responsibility for certain non-yellow line parking offences on the roads such as dangerous parking, obstruction and all moving traffic offences.
