How is the safety of my child ensured on an educational visit? All school visits and adventure activities are subject to a series of checks to ensure that they are properly planned. These include insurance, fire safety, supervision and general welfare. The governors and headteacher of your child s school must ensure that appropriate risk assessments are conducted and that policies relating to educational visits, child protection, transport safety, insurance etc are complied with. You will receive written information about your child s visit and your written consent will be sought in relation to participation in the activity and medical conditions/treatment. You will also be asked to provide emergency contact numbers. All schools and youth groups must notify the Local Education Authority (LEA) of off-site visits and activities and gain approval if the visit is outside the UK or involves certain types of adventure activity.
