What are the multi-agency arrangements for safeguarding adults in North Yorkshire? The North Yorkshire safeguarding adults board was set up in 2008*. The main aim of the board is to protect adults who may be at risk from abuse, by promoting co-operation and effective working practices between different agencies. The board membership includes lead officers from social care services, police, health, housing, the Crown Prosecution Service, the Care Quality Commission and voluntary agencies. We meet quarterly to ensure our policies are fit for purpose and of a high quality. We consider new national and local developments in safeguarding and look at ways we can improve practice. We also consider lessons learnt and ensure that appropriate training is being delivered effectively to all groups. You can find more information about the work the board does and safeguarding in general, in the documents below. The policies and procedures have been developed in consultation with all partner agencies on the safeguarding adults board. *The North Yorkshire safeguarding adults board was previously a joint safeguarding adults board with the City of York from 2003 to 2008. Reporting abuse - service providersIf you are a service provider in the statutory, voluntary or independent sector, please use the Reporting abuse - members of the publicIf you suspect that you or someone you know is being abused then you should report this. Please see the What should you do if you suspect abuse or are worried about abuse? page for details of how to do this. Safeguarding training for people from the statutory, voluntary and independent sectorsAnyone who works with adults in our community, either as a paid worker or volunteer, has a role to play in safeguarding adults and promoting their health and well-being. We need to ensure that they have the right skills and knowledge to work with people to help and protect them. To help achieve this, the North Yorkshire safeguarding adults board has commissioned a range of training courses. These have been developed to suit all levels of staff and volunteers from the statutory, voluntary and independent sectors. The "Safeguarding training course dates for partner organisations" PDF below provides information about the courses available and how to access them. Please use the "Safeguarding training courses - request form" (Word and PDF versions are supplied) to apply for courses. Training courses are free and include refreshments where appropriate. The training advertised within the document is only for organisations within North Yorkshire.
