What are these services?

I'm finding it difficult to carry on working and caring, what can I do?

Balancing work and care can be very stressful. Sometimes people feel they have no choice but to give up work, but that can lead to other problems and have a real impact on income.

You may need to follow a few routes to help make your decision. Some options are:

Carer assessment

We can offer you a carer assessment to give you the chance to share your views about your caring role and how it affects you and your life, as well as the needs of the person you are caring for. It could result in you receiving extra help.

For more information, including guidance on how to ask for an assessment, please see the carer assessment page.

Carers' centres and carers' resources

There are five carers' centres and carers' resources in North Yorkshire. They can give advice and support with work and care issues. Also, meeting other carers in a similar position can also be really helpful - you're not on your own. For further information on the help carers' centres and carers' resources can provide, see the carers' centres in North Yorkshire page.

Supported employment service

Our supported employment service helps people into paid work, who would otherwise experience difficulties owing to a disability. The service can also help carers who may need support to continue working and caring. For more information, please see the disabled people - employment and training schemes page.
