Sure Start children's centres are the focal point for early years services. Every family with children up to the age of five and prospective parents have access to a range of services through their local Sure Start children's centre.
North Yorkshire currently has 37 designated centres. Each centre has a hub or base where activities take place but also aims to co-ordinate and deliver services, under its children's centre umbrella, in a range of venues across the local area so as to enable families to access them more easily.
What services do children's centres offer
Each children's centre aims to provide services that are balanced to their community's needs so, although the activities and services on offer in your area will vary, they may include the following:
early education and childcare for children, including play sessions
advice, support and learning opportunities for parents and carers
child and family health services, such as antenatal classes

All children's centres offer a place for you to meet people and make friends.
