What are these services?

Local development framework

North Yorkshire County Council, as the minerals and waste planning authority for the parts of the County outside the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors National Parks, has a statutory duty to prepare a Minerals and Waste Development Framework (MWDF), containing proposals and policies to guide minerals and waste planning decisions. In due course, the policies and proposals will replace the County Council's current Minerals and Waste Local Plans saved policies.

The Council is currently working on a Minerals Core Strategy and Waste Core Strategy. More details for both are available by following the links at the right hand site of the page. The Council has already produced a number of initial MWDF documents, some of which have been formally adopted. Details of these documents are listed below.

Progress update

The Council has, since April 2010, been progressing its Minerals Core Strategy. We have run a series of consultation events with a variety of stakeholders, including industry, members of the public and environmental bodies, to develop a draft vision and identify a number of key issues which we think the strategy should deal with. The details of consultation events which have taken place are in the Consultation Record table below.

We have completed consultation on the Minerals Issues stage of the Minerals Core Strategy and the consultation report is available on the Minerals Core Strategy page. We are currently working on the Minerals Core Strategy Options stage of the development process and have produced an initial launch document which is available to view on our MWDF consultation page.

Work has now started on the Waste Core Strategy and we have recently completed the Waste Core Strategy First Consultation. Details of this consultation and a summary of the responses are available on the Waste Core Strategy page which can be accessed by clicking the link on the right hand side of this page. We are currently working on the Waste Core Strategy Issues Paper. We have developed a Draft Vision for the Waste Core Strategy which is available for initial comment on our MWDF consultation page.

An Minerals and Waste Development Framework update leaflet has been produced and this is avalable below under the consultation information section.
