Secondary school admissions
As the parent or carer of a child aged between five and 16, you have a legal duty to make sure they receive full-time education that is suitable for their age and ability and we must make arrangements to help you decide which school you would prefer your child to go to.
If you are the parent or carer of a child living in North Yorkshire, who is eligible to transfer from either primary to secondary school in September 2013 (i.e. a child born between 1 September 2001 and 31 August 2002 inclusive) or due to transfer to college in the Northallerton or Whitby areas into year 10 (i.e. a child born between 1 September 1998 and 31 August 1999), these pages will guide you through the procedure for applying for that school place. If you live outside North Yorkshire you should contact your home authority to obtain their information regarding school admissions.
Do read through all of the information on the school admissions and transport pages before completing the online common application form. You must complete the online common application form as soon as possible, regardless of the type of school you are applying for (academy, community, aided, trust or foundation) or where it is. This will enable us to allocate a school place to your child in accordance with our agreed scheme for coordinating admissions. You must submit the online common application form no later than 31 October 2012.
