Timber routes consultationThe North Yorkshire Timber Freight Quality Partnership is seeking your views about timber transport routes in the county. The Freight Quality Partnership (FQP) brings together representatives of the County Council, the Forestry Commission, the timber and forestry industries and haulage interests.
Our aim is to find ways of reducing the impact of forest operations and timber transport on local communities while sustaining a viable forestry industry which is important for the local economy and for jobs. Forestry and sustainable woodland management plays an important role in the economy of North Yorkshire providing over 2000 jobs. In addition woodland management can help to support biodiversity, preserve local landscapes and provide recreational access for local communities and visitors. The FQP is very keen to engage with local communities, residents and visitors and work with them to better manage the impact that the transportation of timber may have on people who live, work and visit close to timber haulage routes and forests. To assist with this we have developed a new timber routes map for North Yorkshire. Information on this map and the role of FQP is included in the frequently asked questions below. There is also a Give us your views on the proposed routesWe would be extremely grateful if you could take the time to review the information on this webpage and provide us with any comments on the map and the routes that have been proposed.
