After working in childcare and education for more than 20 years, Liv Clarkson was looking for a job that could provide more flexibility for her and her family.
Having set her heart on a career in administration, she started to think about the qualifications needed to get there.
Having seen an advertisement for Adult Learning North Yorkshire the previous year, Liv checked the website and saw that our training provider offered short qualifications that would support her in securing an administration role.
Although the thought of juggling the demands of family life and studying for her qualification was initially daunting, the flexibility of the course meant that she could fit learning around her family.
Within the first session of her international computer driving licence (ICDL) in Excel spreadsheets training, Liv knew that she had made the right decision.
“Straight away I knew that I was learning things that I knew would benefit me and my family,” she said.
From there, she caught the learning bug. Once she’d finished the international computer driving licence in Excel spreadsheets, she enrolled onto the international computer driving licence in presentations.
Liv was one of the 97 per cent of Adult Learning North Yorkshire learners who aren’t required to pay for their course.
Now working in a primary school, she credits the training and support she received from North Yorkshire Adult Learning, saying: “Without doing the training, I don’t think I would have got the job that I now have.”
Whether you are thinking of going to university, looking for a career change, want to get back into work or want a new hobby, Adult Learning North Yorkshire offers a wide range of courses to help you achieve your goals, including maths, English, IT, counselling, education, crafts and many more.
