Assistant directors of strategic resources are high profile within the council in both central and directorate management teams, ensuring they are at the heart of decision making.
We have recently strengthened this position to meet the demands of doing more with less. We have adopted the business partner approach for resources within the council and the range of services commissioned through this post goes well beyond traditional finance.
We know that we remain a largely service focused and relatively lean organisation. That makes our financial challenges all the more difficult but we have a plan to take the council to 2020 and beyond. This approach is a departure from the traditional way of doing business in the council and brings with it challenges that need strong and inclusive leadership. We are resolute in our focus to do more to future-proof the council and its frontline services. You will be at the heart of innovation in the council.
As the lead business partner for our children and young people’s service you will need to be a champion for excellent finance, procurement, property, technology, change, project management and commercial services. This will require a confident strategic manager with a focus on customer, performance and growth. You need to be more than a good finance professional – you need to be an excellent leader.
This post leads on performance, procurement or property management and value for money for the whole Council. The strive for increased productivity, income and savings means that the post holder will need to be able to work well with colleagues to ensure that they underpin the business within service directorates. That’s why we need somebody who can lead and take colleagues with them.
You will be a key member of both the strategic resources leadership team and the children and young people’s leadership team at an exciting time. With this comes the opportunity to lead, shape and influence how we deliver strategic resources to deliver the high impact required.
North Yorkshire has a growing reputation for its children and young people’s service; successful ofsted outcomes, award winning innovation programmes and sharing best practice nationally.
