About Fostering North Yorkshire

Find out about the service offered by Fostering North Yorkshire.

Being a foster carer is an extraordinary role for ordinary people; providing children and young people with the love, care and stability of family life to help them flourish.

Many looked after children have not had the positive family experience that most children experience but all it takes is one foster carer to make that difference – a difference that will last a lifetime. By becoming a carer with Fostering North Yorkshire you would be giving local children a safe and loving home and a brighter future.

Like all councils we are a not-for-profit organisation and as much as possible we use our own foster carers to look after our children so that we can support them in their local communities.

Our carers represent our communities and come from a range of backgrounds. Read more about who can foster.

So, if you have been thinking about fostering and would like to make a real difference to a child’s life, get in touch with us today or attend one of our fostering information sessions. Our friendly team will answer any questions you may have and support you every step of the way on your fostering journey.

If you think you could offer the care and support these children need, we want to hear from you.

You can find out more about the children and young people we need foster placements for, and about our great financial packages, excellent training and locally based support by calling us or completing an expression of interest form.

We also run regular fostering information sessions, which are a great way to chat to our team over a cuppa and ask any questions you may have.
