Do it online

Log in and report an issue with a cycle lane

If you prefer, you can tell us about a cycle lane issue anonymously, but you will miss out on the benefits of having an account such as getting progress updates.

Not all roads are our responsibility

Motorways and trunk roads such as the A1, A1(M), M62, A66, A66(M), A64, A168 (Dishforth to Thirsk) and A19 (north of Thirsk) must be reported to Highways England.

In an emergency

If it's an emergency and poses a safety risk, telephone us. Out of office hours, call North Yorkshire Police on 101. If there is danger to life, call 999.

We're committed to promoting cycling as an alternative to car travel for short trips or as part of longer journeys.

Cycle lanes can be: mandatory, which are marked with solid white lines, and from which other vehicles are excluded for at least part of the day, and advisory, which are marked with broken white lines and can be used by other road users if necessary.

How to request a new cycle lane

We encourage residents who consider there is a need for a new cycle lane to discuss the request with the local parish or town council. Find out more about requesting highways improvements here.
