People who find themselves struggling with energy or food costs can find details of support schemes and financial assistance available in the county in our online guide.

Our guide to cost of living support directs residents to various organisations and schemes that might be able to help them during the cost of living crisis.

It includes details of schemes such as North Yorkshire Local Assistance Fund (NYLAF), which can provide emergency financial support in meeting energy or food bills, or supply basic necessities such as a fridge or microwave to those who meet the criteria.

It also includes details of the financial support available to help with childcare costs for under-fours, details of how families can access refurbished laptops and tablets under the Reboot scheme and details of the free wi-fi access in North Yorkshire to help children access online learning.

There is also information about the FEAST holiday clubs, which provide a wide range of activities for children and young people in North Yorkshire. The activities are free to children on benefits-related free school meals and include a hot meal or packed lunch each day.

Household Support Fund

Residents who have been contacted because they are eligible for household support funding are being encouraged to claim a voucher to alleviate pressures on their finances.

The Household Support Fund is to help people struggling with the increased cost of living. In North Yorkshire, letters have been sent to eligible households. The funding is expected to reach about 25,000 households. People need to select their e-voucher by August 15.

For anyone unsure of whether they qualify, there is an online eligibility checker.
