Hospices are skilled at dealing with pain and other symptom control, as well as palliative care.
Most hospices also offer some in-patient services to give carers a break and many have teams of nurses who visit people in their own home and work closely with Macmillan nursing services. All offer counselling for patients, carers and families. Your family doctor or hospital team will be able to provide more details about local services.
Some hospices in the North Yorkshire area are listed below, including the area they cover:
- Herriot Hospice Homecare (Hambleton and Richmondshire)
- Saint Catherine's Hospice (Scarborough)
- Saint Michael's Hospice (Harrogate)
- St. Leonards Hospice (York)
