Visit libraries safely.

With the Government easing of protective measures from July 19th we would like to reassure you that your safety remains our priority.

We want everyone to feel safe and comfortable so would ask that you treat others using the building with consideration as we know that many visitors wish to remain cautious.

We are managing the reintroduction of services and there will be local variations. For details of services from your local library find out more from our Library and Record Office services during Coronavirus (Covid-19) page, or check the Facebook page or website of your local community library for further information.

You can join the library easily by filling in our online form.

Join the library online

After registering, you will be sent an email confirming your membership.

You can also visit a library to join in person. It's free, and you don't need any ID or to fill in a form. Children of any age can join and do not need parental permission or a parent present.

Privacy statement

North Yorkshire library and information service is committed to protecting your privacy. You can read our full privacy statement here.

Your library card and PIN

If you lose your card, the first replacement is free but after that there is a £1.50 charge for a replacement. You will need to visit your local library to request a new PIN. For security reasons, we are unable to give out PINs over the telephone or via email.

If you move out of North Yorkshire, get in touch to let us know and return your card to your nearest library, along with any items you may have borrowed. If you move house from one part of the county to another, tell us your new address as soon as possible.
