On Saturday, 7 October, six North Yorkshire libraries will be transformed into Fun Palaces for the day.
Working with artists, dancers, musicians, museums, colleges and many other creative people, this year’s Fun Palaces will be at Scarborough, Ripon, Northallerton, Filey, Skipton and Richmond libraries. They will offer a day of free arts, culture and sciences for all on the theme of Everyone an Artist, Everyone a Scientist.
Fun Palaces create events that bring together arts and sciences – but above all people – to work together, create together, have fun together, and in so doing build our communities from the grassroots up.
North Yorkshire County Councillor Greg White, Executive Member for Libraries, said: “A visit to one of the library Fun Palaces will give people of all ages an opportunity to explore art and science and take part in fun-filled events. You may even come across a jousting Lego robot!
“This is the sort of event that shows libraries are at the heart of our communities, bringing together people of all ages from all walks of life.”
