Virtual parties, awards and videos have helped in saying thank you to North Yorkshire foster carers for their hard work during 2020.

Saying thank you to foster carers

During December, Fostering North Yorkshire invited foster carers to virtual parties where they took part in festive games and had a chance to relax and to share experiences with other carers.

Fostering North Yorkshire staff expressed their heartfelt gratitude to carers in a video. Watch the video here:

Many carers were given awards for their commitment and long service and were sent certificates, unique lapel badges and local gift vouchers as a token of thanks.

North Yorkshire County Councillor Janet Sanderson, Executive Member for Children’s Services, said: “The Covid-19 pandemic has made it a difficult year for everyone and the fostering service has certainly felt the impact. With a rise in demand for carers and the loss of all physical recruitment events, there has been pressure on the Fostering North Yorkshire team to make sure we maintain the high standards for which we are known.

“Our team and carers have certainly stepped up to the challenge. Creating a festive thank you video has been one way we have been able to share our thanks and we hope our foster families know how proud we are of them.”

Fostering is one of the most rewarding and life-changing things anyone can do. If you would like to find out more about joining the Fostering North Yorkshire team of carers, or have any questions, visit our fostering webpage or phone 01609 534 654.
