The second phase of essential maintenance work at Thornton Bridge has been slightly delayed by the late supply of materials.
The work at the bridge, which takes the road between Brafferton and Cundall in Hambleton over the River Swale, is being done in two phases.
The first involves the raising and realignment of the carriageway next to the bridge plus new road markings and associated signs. It started on 21 August and is planned to finish on 26 August. There will be road closures between 8pm and 6am on 23, 24 and 25 August and a signposted diversion will be in operation.
Phase two involves the repair and reinstallation of sections of bridge parapet. North Yorkshire County Council is now planning to start this on 4 September and it will be completed by 9 September. There will be road closures from 8pm to 6am from 7 September to 9 September, with a a signposted diversion.
