Set in the fictional North Yorkshire village of Rawscar, The Little Church by the Sea is a heart-warming tale of love, friendship and starting over by newly published local author Liz Taylorson.

North Yorkshire County Councillor Greg White, Executive Member for Libraries, said: “This is an opportunity to ease into the festive mood at the library as Liz talks about the challenges of writing a Christmas story in July, and the joys and pitfalls on the road to publishing her first novel.”

After a childhood with her head in a book and a pen in her hand, Liz worked in academic libraries until parenthood interrupted her bibliographic career. Liz then started writing fiction, joining the RNA New Writers’ Scheme to learn how to write novels. The publication of The Little Church by the Sea, published by Manatee Books, is a childhood dream come true.

Liz’s official book launch takes place in Northallerton library reference gallery on Wednesday, 13 December, from 6.30pm to 8pm. Tickets for the event cost £4 and are available from the library. Refreshments will be available. Spaces are limited.
