Northallerton library is helping people to beat the January blues by hosting an information drop-in session with the Samaritans.

Blue Monday, the third Monday in January, is considered one of the most difficult days of the year due in part to post-Christmas blues, cold dark nights and the arrival of credit card bills.

But the library is getting in early with Brew Monday on 13 January. The information session will promote the services offered by the Samaritans, who support those who need somebody to talk to and encourage people to reach out to anybody who may be feeling lonely.

County Councillor Greg White, Executive Member for Libraries, said: “Once again we are delighted to invite the Samaritans into the library as they provide a valuable service to those in need of extra help in the New Year.

“Our libraries offer year-round support with a range of self-help guides. They also boast Reading Well collections for mental health, dementia and long-term conditions as well as books for teenagers.”

The drop-in session will be held from 10am to 2pm. For more information, contact Northallerton library, and find out more about our health and wellbeing resources.
