Garden brings joy to innovative short-break centre

New life is being breathed into Station View, a community service in the heart of Starbeck which serves people from right across Harrogate and the surrounding towns and villages.

Friends, residents and staff working on Station View’s new garden.

The North Yorkshire County Council-run service offers short breaks for people with dementia and people with learning disabilities; daytime activities; and rehabilitation to prevent people being admitted to hospital and/or to help them recover after a hospital stay – working in partnership with the NHS.

The building, on the High Street, is being refurbished and friends and residents and the staff team got together recently for a great day out working on a dementia-friendly garden.

County Councillor Michael Harrison, executive member for adult social care and health integration, said: “Station View provides a vital local service and we have invested new money to expand the services that it provides”.
