North Yorkshire libraries are hosting a free online event with Yorkshire-based author Clara Barley about her novel The Moss House.

Clara Barley

The novel details the life of Anne Lister, commonly known as Gentleman Jack. It explores Anne’s relationship with fellow landowner Ann Walker, and examines how Anne battled both society and her family to try to live her life as she wanted in the early 19th century.

It will be held at 7pm on Wednesday, May 19, and will feature author Clara Barley discussing the story, as well as reading excerpts from her book.

The event was originally due to take place last year at Skipton library, but postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Tickets for the free event should be booked in advance.

It is part of Read Regional 2021, a celebration of Northern writers organised by New Writing North. Read more information about Northern writers.
