Residents and commuters in Carlton in Cleveland will benefit from an extensive programme of patching work starting later this month.

Carlton main road

Our highways teams will begin the patching work on the main road through Carlton Village on Wednesday 27 July, lasting for eight weekdays. A road closure will be in place between 7.30am and 5.30pm.

Executive member for highways and transportation, Cllr Keane Duncan, said: “We are committed to improving North Yorkshire’s roads. Maintenance schemes such as these are vital to improving the condition and safety of our network.

“Carriageway patching is carried out to prepare the road for surface dressing which extends its life and reduces the likelihood of problems happening in future. I know this scheme will be very much welcomed.”

Cllr Bridget Fortune, who represents the Hutton Rudby and Osmotherley division, said: “The upcoming patching works are much needed to improve the condition of this major road ahead of our extensive surface dressing programme next year.

“Access will be maintained for residents and businesses and footpaths will remain open to minimise local disruption. We apologise for the inconvenience it will cause road users and urge everyone to plan their journey before setting off.”

Advance warning signs have been installed and a signed diversion route is in place. See more details and view updates.
