County Councillor Greg White, Executive Member for Libraries, said: “Plenty of work goes on behind the scenes at the library to ensure that the library service across North Yorkshire runs smoothly. Whether a new book is intended for Scarborough or Skipton, it always comes through the headquarters in Northallerton. Back-up book collections are also stored there, and we are looking for support to process these books, as well as to supply other materials to libraries.”

Information days will be held in Northallerton library to give people an opportunity to find out more.  Anyone who is interested can drop in to either of the following sessions:

  • Wednesday, 26 September, 10am to noon; or
  • Monday, 1 October, 11am to 1pm.

Northallerton library is also keen to hear from anyone interested in volunteering within the library itself. Various roles are available, from serving customers to helping with story times to delivering books to housebound customers. Anyone interested can find out more at the same information days.
