We offer two kinds of occupational therapy service - social and health.
Our social care occupational therapy service assesses how your disability affects your daily life - if you have difficulty in getting on and off the toilet, in and out of the bath or into and out of your home. The health occupational therapy service deals with stays in hospital.
Social care occupational therapy
You may be offered equipment, adaptations to your home or help at home to support you and help you maintain your independence, or to assist your carer. This service is provided to people of all ages who have been assessed by a social care needs assessment as falling within the social care services eligibility criteria.
Health occupational therapy
The health occupational therapy service is for stays in hospital and returning home. It provides a specialist therapeutic service, including assessment, treatment and ensuring a safe discharge home.
Asking for an assessment
If you already have a care manager or social care worker, you can ask them for an occupational therapy assessment to give you help to do things for yourself at home. If you are not already in contact with our social care services, please contact us. We will take details from you and arrange for an assessment if necessary. A care manager or occupational therapist will then talk to you further about the issues you face.
Equipment provided through the service
Any equipment provided is loaned free of charge for as long as you need it. You can also take the equipment with you if you move house within the county.
We do not provide or lend equipment to non-residents.
