Are you looking for a way to continue your education whilst earning a real wage? Are you ready to climb the ladder of opportunity?

Our Apprenticeship Programme is a great opportunity for you to do a real job, earn real money and develop valuable skills to build your career on. It's a chance for you to get the kind of experience and genuine support that you need as you climb the career ladder, or whilst deciding what to do next.

We are offering opportunities to complete a Business Administration apprenticeship in a number of different areas within the service. Business Support Services is a hive of activity and a vibrant place to work. There is a real mixture of experience and many young people who make up the teams. The real benefit of working for this service is the variety of work which is undertaken and the exposure to different areas. This environment provides the opportunity to explore different areas and discover where your talents are best suited to.

As an Apprentice Business Support Administrator you'll be committed to undertaking and completing Level 3 Diploma in Business Administration over a 12 month period. Providing you successfully complete the programme, we can offer you the opportunity to secure an exciting and rewarding career with North Yorkshire County Council, using your work experience as a solid base for progression and personal development. The salary you will be paid during the apprenticeship programme will increase after 6 months, subject to satisfactory performance but it is possible to progress quicker.

Typical apprenticeship salary, 12 month programme:

Months 1-6 £129.50 per week, equivalent to £562.00 per month

Months 7-12 £173.48 per week, equivalent to £753.00 per month

Fast track example:

You could be on the apprenticeship salary for the first 1-6 months, then fast tracked to an established contract for months 7-12, working to the requirements of the role. At month 7, providing you meet the required standards of the role and are progressing well or have completed your qualification, you would secure an established band role and have great foundations from which to build your career.

E.g. Apprenticeship salary for months 1-6 £562.00 per month. Progress to Band 4 salary from month 7, starting salary is £15,375 per annum (£1,281 per month), increasing to a maximum of £16,491 (£1,374 per month) with incremental progression.

The timescales above are an example - there could be scope for those that excel and achieve the required level to transition to the permanent role earlier, and those that require a longer development plan, that's fine too, we can have a longer development plan of up to 12 months to enable you to meet the requirements of the role.

Based in Northallerton, Brompton on Swale or Selby, you will join the Business Support service whose care aim is to successfully deliver a wide range of activities and services across North Yorkshire.

Duties will vary from team to team and will include tasks such as:

• Updating electronic filing system / document management

• Liaising with customers

• General administration

• Data entry/logging information/processing data

• Record retention & destruction

• General telephone / email queries

• Co-ordination of supplies, ordering goods, room bookings
