  Rural roads given summertime boost

The County Council has just completed an extensive roads surface dressing programme.

We are launching seven pathways to health walks in Selby to encourage people to take regular exercise.

  Bedale bypass is opened early

The first vehicles drove the three-mile length of Bedale bypass after the new road was opened by Roads Minister Andrew Jones.

  Protecting the coast at Sandsend

Local people were praised as a £9m coastal defence scheme to protect the A174 between Whitby and Sandsend was opened.

  Harrogate parking charges approved

The introduction of on-street parking charges in Harrogate town on Sunday between 10am and 6pm has been approved.

  First Syrian refugees settle in to county

The first Syrian refugees to be resettled in North Yorkshire have arrived. The county will resettle up to 200 refugees by autumn 2018.
