Role Summary
Job Title: Senior Highway Technician
Location: Hybrid working: Working from home with days in one of our offices in Cumbria, North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, Teeside or Tyneside
Term: Permanent/Full Time (40 Hours per Week)
Salary: £28,000 to £35,000+, dependent on experience and qualifications

We have fantastic opportunities for Senior Highway Technicians to join our existing Highways team. You will be an important part of a busy and successful team taking on design, using your own initiative to provide technical support and deliver efficient and cost effective projects working with our Local Authority Partners, NYCC, in their offices around North Yorkshire
Attention to detail is key for this role: you will prepare contract documents and technical specifications and develop Bills of Quantities and complete health and safety risk assessments in coordination with the project CDM requirements.
From your previous experience of doing this role and the communication skills you have you will ensure senior staff are kept informed of important and relevant service/design decisions and the objectives of the company and the client are achieved.
For this role we are looking for someone educated to level 4 (BTEC / HNC or equivalent) in an appropriate discipline, professionally registered or seeking registration at Eng Tech level. You’ll also visit sites and attend client meetings, carry out inspections and surveys as/when required so a full UK driving licence and vehicle is an essential requirement as part of this role.

Qualifications and Skills
· Educated to level 4 (BTEC / HNC or equivalent) in an appropriate discipline, professionally registered or seeking registration at Eng Tech level.
· Experience within an engineering consultancy or highway management organisation
· Experience of working in a highway maintenance or operations environmental with local Highway Authorities or other similar organisations
· Knowledge in preparing detailed designs and specifications using PDS and/or Civils 3D, AutoCAD, MicroDrainage etc
· Experience in the conceptual and detailed design of infrastructure projects, including roads, drainage and highway features
· Working knowledge of relevant UK standards, adoptable standards and building regulations
· IT literacy with excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
· Drainage design (foul & surface water) – Desirable but not essential
