Waste and recycling collections

There are some minor changes to the scheduled waste and recycling collections due to the bank holidays on Friday 29 March and Monday 1 April.

Craven area waste and recycling collections

All collections will take place one day earlier than usual during the week commencing Monday 25 March.

For example, if your bin is normally collected on Tuesdays, it will be collected on Monday 25 March.

Hambleton area waste and recycling collections

There will be no collections on Monday 1 April. All collections due to take place on or after the bank holiday Monday will take place one day later than usual.

If your bin is normally collected on Mondays, it will be collected on Tuesday 2 April.

If your bin is normally collected on Tuesdays, it will be collected on Wednesday 3 April

If your bin is normally collected on Wednesdays, it will be collected on Thursday 4 April.

If your bin is normally collected on Thursdays, it will be collected on Friday 5 April.

If your bin is normally collected on Fridays, it will be collected on Saturday 6 April.

Harrogate area waste and recycling collections

There will be no collections on Monday 1 April. All collections due to take place on or after the bank holiday Monday will take place one day later than usual.

There will be no collections on Monday 1 April. All collections due to take place on or after the bank holiday Monday will take place one day later than usual.

Ryedale area waste and recycling collections

There will be no household waste, garden waste or recycling collections on Friday 29 March. These collections will now take place on Saturday 30 March.

Garden waste collections are not affected by the Easter Monday Bank Holiday and collections of garden waste will be on the usual day week commencing 1 April.

Household rubbish and recycling collections due to take place on or after the bank holiday Monday (1 April) will take place one day later than usual.

There will be no collections on Monday 1 April. Collections due to take place on or after the bank holiday Monday will take place one day later than usual.

Customer services

Our customer service centres are closed to all routine queries during the Easter bank holiday weekend from Friday 29 March to Monday 1 April. They will reopen at 9am on Tuesday 2 April.

We will not be monitoring or responding to messages on social media during this time.

While we are closed, many of our services are available online.

Library opening hours

Most of our libraries will be closed during the Easter bank holiday weekend from Friday 29 March to Monday 1 April. You can find out more about your local library, including opening times.

Some of the community libraries will be open on Saturday 30 March, including Bilton and Woodfield Community Library, Boroughbridge Community Library, Great Ayton Discovery Centre, Hawes Library, Mashamshire Community Library and Thirsk Community Library.

Although the buildings may be closed, you can still use North Yorkshire’s free digital library. There are thousands of free eBooks and eAudio books, as well as eNewspapers, eMagazines and eComics available to borrow, and you can consult a wide range of free reference resources, day and night. You can also find all your digital resources in one place on the North Yorkshire library app, which can be downloaded to mobile devices from the App Store for iOS and Google Play for Android devices. County record office

Our record office will be closed from Friday 29 March until Monday 1 April. The office will reopen at 9.30am on Tuesday 2 April.

All registration offices are closed from Friday 29 March until Monday 1 April. They will reopen at 9am on Tuesday 2 April.

You can still book an appointment to register a birthregister a deathgive notice of wedding or civil partnership and buy copy certificates online while we are closed.

Household waste recycling centres

Our household waste recycling centres are open as normal over the Easter bank holiday weekend, from 8.30am to 4pm until Sunday 31 March and 8.30am to 5pm on Monday 1 April.
