The youth justice service work together to prevent young people from offending, safeguard the welfare of young people and protect the public.

The service:

  • Is made up of expert staff who work with social workers, police officers and probation officers;
  • Works with parents to promote constructive alternatives for young people;
  • Supervises convicted young offenders in the community or in custody, by confronting and changing their attitudes, behaviour and circumstances; and
  • Provides advice and support for victims of youth crime and also for the parents and carers of young offenders.

A range of information including details of court orders, bail arrangements, parole reports, probation support, court procedures and more can be found on the North Yorkshire youth justice service page. It also provides contact details for the service.
