Waste is hazardous when it contains substances that might make it harmful to human health or cause harm to the environment. The term 'hazardous’ does not always mean that waste is toxic.

Some hazardous domestic waste (except for clinical waste) can be disposed of at your local Household Waste Recycling Centre.

Some household items classed as hazardous waste can be collected by our bulky waste collection service.
We do not collect hazardous waste from commercial premises. You should contact a licensed specialist waste management contractor.
Hazardous domestic clinical waste should be disposed of by a specialist company or healthcare professional. In some circumstances we can arrange to collect and dispose of hazardous domestic clinical waste.

You can dispose of cement-bonded asbestos for free at some household waste recycling centres.
We cannot collect asbestos from domestic properties.
