Carer’s emergency card – identifies you as a carer
This is a small card that identifies you as a carer and should be kept with you at all times. It provides 24-hour emergency cover should you fall ill or have an accident and cannot speak to the person you care for.
In an emergency, we will get in touch with your named emergency contact or take appropriate action for the person you care for. We will also provide emergency support if you don’t have anyone who has agreed to be contacted in an emergency.
Who can apply for the carer's emergency card
The card is for anyone over 18 who cares for someone living in North Yorkshire, who is also over 18.
To apply for a card, you must tell us about yourself and the person you care for.
If you have someone who has agreed to be a named contact to help out in an emergency, you should also give us their contact details.

Change in carer’s circumstances
Contact us to tell us about a change in your circumstances. This could be when your named emergency contact changes, or you change your telephone number.
