Important
Changes to clinical waste collection

From the end of July, we will no longer provide sharps boxes or sacks for clinical waste collection. These can be obtained from your GP surgery. If you self-medicate, you can also buy them online or at a pharmacy.

Hypodermic needles and syringes must always be placed in a sharps box — never in household rubbish bins.

There will be no change to the clinical waste collection service.

We collect clinical waste in two ways:

1.    Sharps boxes for residents who self-medicate using needles
2.    Yellow sacks for clinical waste, such as renal dialysis waste and other waste that poses a risk of infections.

Your doctor or healthcare professional will tell you if you have clinical waste, and will provide you with the sharps containers or clinical waste bags.

We cannot make clinical waste collections from commercial premises, including holiday parks.

Collections take place every four weeks on a Friday.  We usually need 3 working days’ notice to arrange a collection.

Once your application has been received, we will contact you to let you know when your collection will take place.
