We collect clinical waste in two ways:
- sharps boxes for residents who self-medicate using needles
- yellow sacks for clinical waste, such as renal dialysis waste and other waste that poses a risk of infections
Your doctor or healthcare professional will tell you if you have clinical waste. They will give you sharps containers or clinical waste bags. If you self-medicate, you can also buy them online or at a pharmacy.
Hypodermic needles and syringes must always be placed in a sharps box - never in household rubbish bins.
We cannot make clinical waste collections from commercial premises, including holiday parks.
Collections take place every four weeks on a Friday. We usually need 3 working days’ notice to arrange a collection.
Once your application has been received, we will contact you to let you know when your collection will take place.
