Car chemicals

Car chemicals are accepted, free of charge, at all of our household waste recycling centres.

The following are examples of car chemicals that can be disposed of in the waste for energy recovery container:

  • anti-freeze
  • brake fluid
  • body filer
  • car polish
  • car shampoo
  • de-icer
  • engine additives
  • grease
  • paints
  • screen wash
  • used oil filters
  • wheel cleaner

If you have no use for these items, please pass them on to someone who can use them.

Tins, bottles and sprays containing these must be firmly secured to prevent leakages.

If you have the following, please ask site staff for assistance as these items are stored separately on site:

  • diesel
  • petrol

You need to dispose of your diesel or petrol in a five litre (or less) container that meets the requirements of Schedule 3 of The Petroleum (Consolidation) Regulations 2014.
