Larger bins for medical conditions
Larger bins can be requested if someone in your household has a medical condition which creates extra waste. You will need to tell us why the medical condition affects the amount or type of waste produced at the property.
Clinical waste such as sharps and infectious swabs and dressings cannot be put into your normal rubbish bin. Find out more about our clinical waste collection service.
Bins for larger households
Households that have lots of people can request larger rubbish bins provided they are recycling everything they can through the kerbside recycling service.
Find out more about what you can and can’t recycle.
Residents with 240 litre bins can request a larger bin if 6 or more people permanently live in the property. Residents with 180 litre bins can request a larger bin if 5 or more people permanently live in a property.
We will require details of all residents living in your property. Additional checks may be made to verify this information.
Larger or extra recycling bins
Please make sure you are flattening all cardboard boxes and squashing plastic bottles before requesting a larger or additional recycling bin to maximise the use of the space you already have available.
Residents living in the Selby or Ryedale areas may be able to request a larger recycling bin if they have a smaller than standard bin already. Residents in all other areas can request an additional recycling bin.
Residents in the Richmond area can collect additional boxes and bags for recycling from the following locations.
Smaller bins
If you live in Selby or Ryedale you may be able to request a smaller rubbish or recycling bin depending on the size you currently have.
Before you start
You will need a debit or credit card as there may be a £35 administration change. This depends on the type of bin you request.
The colour of bin you receive may be different from that you have been used to. Find out what bin colours are provided in your area.
We will deliver your bin within 15 working days.
Please leave the bin which is being replaced in a safe visible location for our crews to collect. We are unable to leave new bins without removing the original bin.
