Online business rates portal

Access our new online business rates portal

Our new online portal gives you quick, convenient and secure access to your business rates account information.

Signing up to the portal gives you access to:

  • make service requests with our new online forms
  • sign up for electronic billing so that you can view all correspondence from the council in a secure portal
  • change the payment details we use to request your payments and the date on which they are taken
  • view the rateable value of your property
  • view your instalments, when they are due and that you are up to date with payments
  • update your contact details
  • add notes to your account for our team to pick up

To do this you first need to sign up for a North Yorkshire MyAccount and then register your business rates information to link it to your account.

To sign up to the portal you will need your new business rates reference number.

New reference numbers:

  • are 12-or-13 digits long
  • start with ‘8’

They are shown on any documents or correspondence we sent you since 1 June 2025, including letters and emails communicating a change of reference number related to your Direct Debit. In Direct Debit emails and letters, your new account reference number is referred to as the ‘new originator reference’.

Every business rates customer will receive their new reference number by the next annual billing cycle.
