A vision for Bedale

We are developing a Town Investment Plan (TIP) for Bedale as part of a regeneration programme across 32 towns in the county.

The plans will help guide future funding bids by ensuring they are targeted to local priorities.

This project is supported by David Skaith, Mayor of York and North Yorkshire and part-funded by York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority.

Bedale is a Georgian market town located on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, often referred to as the “Gateway to Wensleydale” making it a popular starting point for exploring the Dales. The town has held a weekly market since receiving its charter in 1251 and also hosts annual events such as the Christmas Festival, Firework display and car boot sales, reflecting its vibrant community spirit. The Wensleydale Railway stops in Bedale offering scenic rides through Yorkshire’s countryside.

The key themes expected to feature in the Town Investment Plan include:

  • improving the vitality of the town centre and enabling enterprise
  • active travel and climate resilience
  • the use of cultural and heritage assets and public realm
  • enabling people to have healthier lives

Have your say

To make sure each investment plan reflects local priorities we are inviting residents, business owners and visitors to share their views on their local town and how you think it could be improved.
