Vision for the future of Boroughbridge

Find out about the proposed investment priorities for Boroughbridge.

We are developing a Town Investment Plan (TIP) for Boroughbridge as part of a regeneration programme across 32 towns in the county. The plans will help guide future funding bids by ensuring they are targeted to local priorities.

This work is supported by David Skaith, Mayor of York and North Yorkshire and receives funding from the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority.

Boroughbridge is an ancient and charming market town situated on the River Ure, adjacent to the A1(M). Known for its rich heritage, riverside walks and welcoming community feel, it is steeped in history. The town is home to notable local landmarks such as the ancient Aldborough Roman site and the impressive Devil’s Arrows standing stones. It hosts annual events such as the Aldborough and Boroughbridge Agricultural Show, celebrating its deep-rooted agricultural heritage. The town is characterised by its history, riverside setting and a welcoming high street filled with independent shops, eateries and local businesses, making it an attractive destination for residents and visitors alike.

The key themes expected to feature in the Town Investment Plan include:

  • improving the vitality of the town centre and enabling enterprise
  • active travel and climate resilience
  • the use of cultural and heritage assets and public realm
  • enabling people to have healthier lives

Have your say

To make sure each investment plan reflects local priorities, we are inviting residents, business owners and visitors to share their views on their local town and how you think it could be improved.
