Vision for the future of Malton and Norton

Find out about the proposed investment priorities for Malton and Norton.

We are developing a Town Investment Plan (TIP) for Malton and Norton as part of a regeneration programme across 32 towns in the county. The plans will help guide future funding bids by ensuring they are targeted to local priorities.

This project is supported by David Skaith, Major of York and North Yorkshire and part-funded by York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority.

Identifying key themes and priorities

We are currently reviewing feedback from previous stakeholder engagement sessions to identify the key themes and priorities for Malton and Norton. This includes engagement held with voluntary and community groups, business representatives, landowners, developers, arts and heritage organisations and seldom heard groups.

This analysis will then inform development of an initial Draft Malton and Norton Town Investment Plan.

So far we have identified the following key themes for the Malton and Norton Town Investment Plan:

  • infrastructure (transport, walking and cycling, reducing flood risk)
  • regeneration and improvements to public spaces
  • business and the economy
  • tourism, culture, and  heritage
  • community, health and wellbeing
  • environment

We plan to consult on the Draft Malton and Norton Town Investment Plan in early summer 2026.
