A vision for Skipton

Find out about the proposed investment priorities for Skipton.

We are developing a Town Investment Plan (TIP) for Skipton as part of a regeneration programme across 32 towns in the county. The plans will help guide future funding bids by ensuring they are targeted to local priorities.

This project is supported by David Skaith, Mayor of York and North Yorkshire and part-funded by York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority.

Situated in the west of North Yorkshire, Skipton benefits from a strategic location within the ‘Aire Gap’, with connections across the Pennines, West Yorkshire, East Lancashire and the M6 corridor. With North Yorkshire’s second busiest railway station and high-quality rail services to Leeds, Bradford, London and north into the Yorkshire Dales, Skipton boasts a thriving economy, particularly in the financial, pharmaceutical and visitor economy sectors.

Although a thriving community, investment is required to address key issues including a shortage of land for businesses, a historic town centre whose infrastructure needs updating, an ageing population and the need to address poor health and deprivation indicators.

Have your say

To make sure each investment plan reflects local priorities we are inviting residents, business owners and visitors to share their views on their local town and how you think it could be improved.

Paper versions are available from Skipton Library.

Skipton Town Investment Plan

The survey closes on Friday 20 March.

A public drop-in session will be held on Thursday 26 February from 3pm to 7pm at Skipton Library.

Once the consultation has closed, the feedback will be reviewed and analysed to inform the draft Town Investment Plan.
