Terms and conditions

  1. The competition is open to children aged 7 to 11, who are residents of the United Kingdom, except for children of employees of North Yorkshire Library and Information Service or children connected with the judging of the competition.
  2. There is no entry fee and no purchase necessary to enter this competition.
  3. By entering this competition, an entrant is indicating his/her agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.

  5. All entries must be received by midnight on Saturday 13 September 2025. After this date no further entries to the competition will be permitted.
  6. Entries can be emailed (Jpeg format preferred) to library.secretaries@northyorks.gov.uk. No responsibility can be accepted for entries not received for whatever reason. 
  7. Entries limited to three per child.
  8. Size limited to 4MB.
  9. Must be landscape format (otherwise won’t work on the library card). 
  10. The subject matter for entries is ‘North Yorkshire Nature’ and as such all photographs must be taken in North Yorkshire. You must indicate where the photograph was taken.
  11. The prize is to have the winning entries appear on limited edition library cards. No cash or other alternatives will be offered.
  12. Winners will be chosen by a panel from the library service with an adjudicator with photographic experience.
  13. The winners will be notified by email or letter within 28 days of the closing date.
  14. The promoter’s decision in respect of all matters to do with the competition will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  15. By entering this competition, an entrant is indicating his/her agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.
  16. The competition and these terms and conditions will be governed by English law and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England.
  17. Competition entrant agrees to the use of his/her name and image in any publicity material, as well as their entry, including on social media. Any personal data relating to the winner, or any other entrants, will be used solely in accordance with current UK data protection legislation and will not be disclosed to a third party without the entrant’s prior consent.
  18. The winner’s name will be available 28 days after closing date by emailing the following address: library.secretaries@northyorks.gov.uk
