Six candidates to contest next month’s Eastfield by-election

The six candidates who will contest Scarborough’s Eastfield by-election for a seat on North Yorkshire Council can be confirmed.

Nominations for the Eastfield division seat have closed with voters due to go to the polls on Thursday 19 June.

The seat has become vacant following the resignation of Councillor Tony Randerson.

The candidates are:

  • Helen Susan Baker, Conservative Party
  • Mark Harrison, Liberal Democrats
  • Tom Seston, Reform UK
  • Hazel Anne Smith, Labour Party
  • Kieran Wade, Green Party
  • Helen Williams, Social Justice Party

Voting will take place from 7am to 10pm with the election count taking place in the evening after the close of polling.

Voters attending the polling station for the by-election on Thursday 19 June will need to bring photographic identification to be able to cast their vote.

Residents in Eastfield have until Tuesday 3 June to register to vote and until 5pm on Wednesday 4 June, to apply for a new postal vote or change an existing postal vote.

If someone is unable to vote in person or by post they have until 5pm on Wednesday 11 June to apply for a proxy vote

If you do not have a suitable photo ID, you can apply for a free voter authority certificate before Wednesday 11 June.
