We are continuing to see some impacts across roads in some areas covered by the Met Office amber warning for snow.

Particularly issues continue on higher ground across on some routes around Scarborough and Whitby as well as the North York Moors. Please take additional care if you have to travel in those areas.

There are also a small number of very local interruptions to services like waste and recycling collections in certain areas, school closures and our registrars service. Get the latest information:

  • school closures
  • our road cameras
  • where we are gritting
  • more information about our winter maintenance policy
  • map of power cuts on Northern Powergrid's website
  • latest weather warnings from the Met Office

We will also be posting regular updates on our Facebook page.

Get advice on staying safe and accessing support during winter weather on our warm and well page.

Interruptions to our services

Bin collections

Due to the weather conditions, we were unable to collect all waste and recycling bins in the Scarborough and Whitby areas on Saturday 3 January. If your bin was not collected please leave it out and we will collect it when we can.

Household Waste Recycling Centres

All centres are currently open as normal.
